TeachAbility was created to maximize the potential of all learners.

When we limit our expectations of what students can achieve based on labels or categorical status, we unintentionally restrict their potential.

Meet Ali Wilson, Ed.D.

My journey in education began in 2006 as a paraprofessional for a student with autism in an inclusive classroom. That experience ignited my passion for breaking down the barriers that prevent all students from reaching their potential.

"Every student can do hard things — and every teacher deserves the support to help them get there."

Over my 20 years in education, I've progressed from teacher to special education coordinator, university instructor, and consultant, working with states, districts, charter schools, and independent schools nationwide.

Along the way, I witnessed how rigid systems and siloed departments  fail families, educators, and students. Special education and literacy often operate on different tracks and with different goals, leaving limited space for collaboration and shared ownership in supporting all students. Too often, these systems turn support services into labels - students become "struggling readers" - and those labels can follow students throughout their educational journey, limiting their opportunities and dampening their potential.

I created TeachAbility — to bridge these seemingly disparate fields and create more equitable systems that serve all learners.

What Makes TeachAbility

Different

Deep Expertise

My work lives at the intersection of special education, general education, and multilingual learning. I bring deep expertise in both literacy instruction and special education — two fields that rarely work together but absolutely should.

I've been involved in every aspect of educational transformation: from writing proposals and scoping projects to coaching leaders, developing content, facilitating professional learning, and co-teaching in classrooms.

This comprehensive experience means I can envision the big picture while delivering practical, bite-sized solutions that work in real classrooms with real constraints.

Work tailored to your specific needs

When we work together, I listen first. I ask questions that help you uncover your challenges and identify what matters most. I don't believe in "plug and play" solutions — every school context is unique.

I guide you in transforming your vision into tangible outcomes, from initial planning through implementation and data analysis. Most importantly, I help shift mindsets about what all students — especially those with IEPs or from historically marginalized communities — can accomplish when we provide the right support and hold high expectations.

We then examine the difference between our intentions and the impact of our actions. Often, despite our best efforts, there are hidden systemic obstacles preventing students from thriving. Together, we identify these barriers and create innovative solutions that enable all students to engage in productive struggles and experience meaningful success.

Past & Present Partnerships

I’ve had the privilege of partnering with states, districts, and schools across the country to build more coherent, inclusive systems of literacy instruction.

Whether supporting a statewide initiative or piloting new ideas with a single school, I approach every partnership as a collaboration — grounded in trust, curiosity, and a shared commitment to what works for real students.
